Get the full Week 4 WR/CB matchups, including which receivers to target and which players to downgrade with actionable advice.
Navigating early-season WR performance can often feel like a guessing game. When injuries and underperformances pile up, analyzing the individual matchups is the most effective way to optimize your lineups.
Matchups can help separate similar options and identify players with a chance to outperform expectations. Here are some of the most important fantasy football Week 4 matchups.
Week 4 WR/CB Matchups to Target
Zay Flowers vs. Titans
Zay Flowers continues to be extremely efficient. He is operating out of the slot on 67.6% of his snaps, generating a 48.0% target per route run rate and 11.7 yards after the catch per reception. He has 10 catches so far, and every reception has resulted in either a first down or a touchdown. Six have gone for at least 20 yards. He has also posted a 12.3-yard average depth of target.
The Titans rank 31st in pressure rate, while their secondary surrenders the 20th-most passing yards per game to wideouts. Garrett Wilson and DeVonta Smith have already produced strong games against this defense.
If Flowers is active, he belongs in the WR1 or WR2 range for Week 4.
Rashee Rice vs. Tarron Johnson
Rashee Rice saw his target share hit a season-high at 56.3% in Week 3. He has averaged 2.35 yards per route run this season, posting a 20% target rate. The Raiders heavily deploy zone defenses; Rice excels against them. He has earned a 29% target rate and 3.02 yards per route run against those looks.
Rice projects as a confident WR2 start.
Stefon Diggs vs. Justin Walley
Stefon Diggs leads Washington with 13.6 fantasy points per game and a 30% target rate. He runs 63.5% of his routes out of the slot. The Colts run man coverage at a 33% rate. Diggs holds a 28% target rate and 2.58 yards per route run, positioning him to dominate against rookie CB Justin Walley.
Diggs has significant upside for managers targeting fantasy football sleepers.
Week 4 WR/CB Matchups to Avoid
George Pickens at Texans Perimeter
Even though George Pickens maintains a balanced target share alongside CeeDee Lamb, his limited slot involvement creates a tough path to production. Pickens has aligned in the slot on less than 9% of snaps. The Houston defense combines a disciplined pass rush with tight outside coverage.
Up against top perimeter cornerbacks on the road, Pickens has lower output expectations for Week 4.
Michael Pittman Jr. vs. Denzel Ward
Pittman has a 9.1% first-read target share and only six expected fantasy points per game. Cleveland uses man coverage at a high rate, while Pittman has averaged only 1.04 yards per route run against man coverage since 2025. He also projects to face Denzel Ward, who has allowed just 0.12 fantasy points per route and 0.39 yards per route.
Pittman remains difficult to trust as a fantasy starter this week.
Lineup Strategy
Evaluating critical Week 4 WR CB matchups allows fantasy managers to make informed decisions rather than relying on draft capital. Focus on players with high target shares against vulnerable defensive schemes, and temper expectations for perimeter receivers facing elite secondary units. Setting a winning roster requires leveraging these micro-matchups every week.
